O Nox Ultima was originally conceived by Bartholomew Boge, guitarist and vocalist for the band Divine In Sight. “This project is intended to answer two fundamental questions: a theological one and an artistic one” offers Boge. “Theologically, the question is really ‘can anyone, even a genocidal murderer, receive redemption and forgiveness?’ Artistically, we’re asking ‘is there any context within which the genre of progressive rock can reach a wider audience in poignant and meaningful ways?’ O Nox Ultima is our answer to both.”
The first step in the process of writing a musical involves the crafting of the story, which in this case is codified into a story treatment and a full length screenplay. Boge has been involved with the story from its original inception back in 2003, where it began as a short stage play manuscipt. Dozens of revisions later, the final manuscript now serves as the conceptual framework for the rest of the project.
